Black Sabbath - Born Again

Desde que comecei a ser um ouvinte assíduo de música, o Black Sabbath é uma das minhas bandas preferidas. E não só a "fase-Ozzy", mas todas as outras, principalmente a "fase-Dio", que contava com meu vocalista preferido: Ronnie James Dio. Mas a fase mais controversa e, talvez, a mais surpreendente, é a "fase-Guillan", que contou com ninguém menos que Ian Guillan, do Deep Purple, nos vocais. A entrada do mestre dos agudos na banda mais pesada da história foi engraçada: o guitarrista Tony Iommi estava enchendo a cara num bar junto com Ian Guillan. Do nada, ele pergunta: "E aí, Guillan, minha banda está sem vocalista. Tá afim de cantar?". Ele disse: "Ué, por que não?". Isso foi em 1983, pouco depois da primeira saída de Dio (que voltaria ao Sabbath em 1992 pra gravar o Dehumanizer e sair pouco tempo depois) e do rompimento temporário do Deep Purple.
Com isso, Guillan gravou um disco com a banda: Born Again. A sonoridade é muito diferente de qualquer outro disco que o Sabbath tinha gravado desde então. É um disco muito cru, com uma gravação pouco produzida, mas que tem uma atmosfera bem pesada. E contém uma das músicas mais destruidoras da história: sim, aquela que deu o título do disco, Born Again. É uma música lenta, de certa forma calma, mas ao mesmo tempo muito intensa. O vocal de Guillan fez um trabalho espetacular, com agudos dignos de sua fama e potencial na época. A letra é um atrativo à parte: fala de um cara que está em seu quarto,e de repente recebe a visita do capeta. Nada mais metal que isso.

Em 1984, Guillan ressucita o Deep Purple com seus então ex-companheiros de banda, e consequentemente, sai do Black Sabbath.
